Asian men don’t get a good deal in Hollywood. When was the last time that you saw an Asian leading man in a Western movie treated as a sex symbol in the same way as a white actor?

We sympathise. Once again we have an alarming announcement from Japan’s health ministry that the number of syphilis patients in Japan has gone up.

This has become a regular news item of late, prompting the ministry to launch a special team to investigate ways to combat the spread of sexually transmitted infections and diseases.

Hospital data from across Japan reports that the number of syphilis patients totaled 4,259 in early December, which is an big increase of 77% from 2,412 in the corresponding period in 2015, and more than seven-fold from a decade ago.

It seems that current efforts to promote safe sex, including Sailor Moon condoms, are not working.

The rise in syphilis yet again is caused by heterosexual intercourse, though there is also a jump in mother-to-child transmissions.

This is pretty scandalous stuff, though the “evidence” seems to be only that Aoi was spotted leaving the apartment where Matsumoto lives (possibly with Inoue).

Still if a comedian old enough to be a grandfather can enjoy the fruits of a porn star (step forward, Sanma Akashiya), then it’s hardly unimaginable that Matsumoto could bag such a young hottie.

Many leading porn stars actually make extra money by dating sugar daddies, receiving very generous compensation for their “time”. Perhaps that’s what’s happening here. Mao doesn’t give him everything he needs, so Jun has an arrangement with a porn star.

Regardless of the truth, the scandal has led to Tsukasa Aoi cancelling a book-signing event, and she stopped tweeting in late December due to the abuse she was receiving on the social media network from Arashi fans.

It’s also amusing to see this reported in the mainstream media, where as always in these cases euphemisms are employed. Aoi is not an AV star, she’s a “sexy actress”. Hmm…

Here’s something that may restore your faith in Japanese TV.

Tokumei Kakaricho Tadano Hitoshi is a TV series based on the manga by Kimio Yanagisawa. It has already been adapted into a TV drama once before but now a new version is streaming on AbemaTV, an online streaming channel. It is the channel’s first original series.

Japanese TV is famously weird, but in terms of nudity is pretty modest and prim. But satellite TV and online TV is not so restricted and can show nudity and sex scenes, not to mention strange shows where porn stars jerk off men on camera or telethons where men line up to grope porn stars’ breasts.

First up, Shoko Takasaki/Takahashi shows us how to do a good nude scene by baring her immense breasts in a sex scene. Also look out for a bathing scene and one where a guy rubs up behind her to demonstrate a good golf swing.

We spotted this nice article over on Global Voices about the “strangest” love hotel names in Japan.

It compiles the results of a survey ranking the most unusual names for love hotels.

As we know there are some strange-looking love hotels (both inside, with themed rooms, and outside, with gaudy castle exteriors), especially in the countryside.

But now we know the strangest name. And it’s Banana & Donut. Indeed, this is not a diner or cafe, but a love hotel in Saga Prefecture, southern Japan.

Like similar establishments outside of Japan’s big cities, Banana & Donut is located on a highway bypass on the outskirts of town, and according to its website, besides providing private rooms, also offers raffle draws for useful household gadgets, room service and coupon discounts for frequent visitors. There is also a porn shop where costumes and adult novelties can be purchased as part of your stay.

The poll was done in December 2016 with 500 people in Japan.

Many of these seem nothing more than random (is North Africa a love hotel specializing in interracial couplings?) but there are plenty of references to pop culture and the like here, not least “The 101st Marriage Proposal”, which was a 1991 TV series.

We all love interacting with our favorite idols on social media. Following their feeds is a way to feel closer to their lives; it tricks us into thinking that we actually “know” them or could actually meet them one day.

A selfie taken of a trio of AKB girls (can anyone help us identify them?) unwittingly included a nude selfie of Satone Kubo, a 13-year-old “trainee” at the group. It was taken in a backstage changing room and was supposed to be a fun, innocent moment showing the camaraderie between the girls.

Well, as snafus go this one isn’t so bad. Sure, you only see Satone Kubo’s naked back but it brings up an interesting question. Does this mean that the three idols are guilty of disseminating child pornography?! Gosh, maybe us as well…

The adult industry in Japan is giddy right now about the possibilities for virtual reality.

We have already seen lots of events and ideas emerge, though no major releases yet.

He is known for his adult themes. Guilty of Romance included an awesome full frontal scene from Miki Mizuno as well as graphic nude scenes featuring the busty gravure model Megumi Kagurazaka (pictured below), whom Sono later had the intelligence to marry.

Seemingly set in one room, Antiporno also stars Mariko Tsutsui. Tomite plays a writer who shuts herself in her home, where she is visited by her managed, played by Tsutsui.

As we prepare for the joys that await the adult world thanks to virtual reality, you can currently get a taster of the kind of things we might see a lot more of soon.

Friday, the weekly tabloid published by Kodansha, has got together with former gravure model and now top porn star Shoko Takahashi (Shoko Takasaki) to produce three “virtual reality” scenes featuring the busty lady in the nude.

The 3D scenes are viewable in three dimensions: view them here, here and here. Use your cursor to move around and find Shoko waiting to entertain you. We assume this promotion is only available for a limited time and the footage may disappear eventually.

Still, the implications are obvious. We haven’t seen so many examples of interesting use of 3D and VR technology yet involving gravure and porn idols, though the possibilities they offer for getting more intimate with top stars are immense. Bring it on!

We have recently seen a lot of controversy in the porn industry in Japan over coercion after several prominent cases where women, including current stars, have come forward to allege they were forced to perform when they were originally scouted on different terms.

It is one of the AV industry’s dirty secrets that no one liked to talk about until last year. It has led to arrests and court cases as well as a wave of bad publicity in the mainstream media.

And the latest “victim” of the controversy is not even a member of the industry!

Now a lawyer who represented a production company suing a woman who refused to perform in a pornographic video may face disciplinary charges for doing his job.

That lawsuit, which attempted to make the woman pay 24.6 million yen ($214,000) for breach of contract, was thrown out in September 2015, as we reported at the time. Now the Daini Tokyo Bar Association plans to review whether the sixty-something lawyer should be punished because the lawsuit was an “intimidating” process intended to coerce appearances in pornography.

After the suit’s ruling in 2015, the review was brought forward by an unrelated man in Tokyo, who wanted the Daini Tokyo Bar Association (later appealed higher to the Japan Federation of Bar Associations) to investigate if the lawyer was responsible for assisting in coercion. Such a disciplinary action would be very rare, since in theory everyone has a right to legal representation. In such circumstances as a lawsuit, it is the fundamental job of the lawyer to secure a settlement for his or her clients. However, the JFBA does have basic rules which prohibit lawyers from undertaking cases with unjust objective.

Originally the court ruling said: “Even though it is the kind of job that no one can be forced to do against their will, (the company) pressed the defendant to perform by warning her about the large amount of penalty money.”

Some people really don’t care. All they want is for the whole world to enjoy their body.

Some time ago we wrote about the 1990s scandal in which Ministry of Finance bureaucrats were arrested for receiving favors, including trips to shabu shabu restaurants where the female staff wore no panties.

A few weeks ago we got very excited over the new trailer for Sion Sono’s pink film, Antiporno. As the trailer indicated, the bizarre-looking film stars a naked Ami Tomite who lives in a brightly colored apartment.

Well, prepare to get even more excited as we have found some grabs of Tomite’s nude scenes, or at least some of them. Beggars can’t be choosers. It’s more than enough to go on for now.

The question now remains: will Tomite do a Yuriko Yoshitaka and make this just a one-off to help boost her fame, or will she be more like Mugi Kadowaki and keep on stripping off for the camera?
