Half of Japanese married couples sleep separately, according to a survey by VenusTrap.

The online magazine asked 400 married men if they slept in the same room as their wives.

50.2% of men said they haven’t slept in the same room as their wives since getting married.

The top reason for this was that the couple were now “sexless“. 40.8% of the men who said “no” to the first question gave this as the cause for sleeping separately. “It is tough to sleep next to a woman you can’t have sex with,” some men said. Others were told by their wives, “If we’re not going to do it, then we don’t have to sleep in the same room.”

At second and 15.1%, the reason was getting up at different times.

At third and 11.2%, it was because their wives snored.

At fourth and 9.2%, it was because they had a child that still needed to be breast-fed.

At joint fifth and 8.4%, it was because the men said they snored and had been chucked out, or because the spouses had different preferences for how hot or cold the room should be.

Needless to say, this is a limited survey and we don’t know anything about the ages of the respondents. But it seems to be an unpleasant window into the lives of many married couples in Japan.

Indonesian police have now arrested a 24-year-old IT analyst for the prank, which could land him in jail for six years.

Comic-Con promptly reversed the ban on October 27th, so guys dressed as girls can now attend without fear of being thrown out.

We hope that Comiket would surely never consider imposing such a rule, so perhaps this is due to the fact that Comic-Con is originally an American event? Not so, since the American counterpart has no such rule.

Moreover, there was no mention of banning women from dressing as men. The wording was josou, which means men cross-dressing as women. It seems this may have been an over-zealous attempt to ensure that men don’t go into women’s dressing rooms and cause trouble.

To help deal with the problem, AV retailer and producer Soft on Demand (SOD) set up three “adult garbage cans” in Shibuya.

The cans were loaded with a total of 60 audio responses recorded by actual porn stars Mana Sakura, Masami Ichikawa, Makoto Toda, Rin Asuka, Iori Kogawa and Marina Shiraishi.

The Adult Trash Boxes were designed to take three kinds of waste: burnable (“moeru”, but written with the characters for “moe”), unburnable (moenai, again playing on “moe”), and cans and bottles.

Phrases include “more, more” and “you’re so big”. In particular, the phrases related to “size” were decided by sensors that measured the magnitude of the bottle or trash you were putting inside. The audio also changed when the trash cans started to fill up (“I’m so full”, and so on).

The audio style also varied between the cans.

The cans and bottles trash can (Makoto Toda, Marina Shiraishi) responded to even the smallest touch.

The burnable trash can (Mana Sakura, Rin Asuka) praised you for putting in a lot.

The three trash cans were located from 7pm to midnight on October 29th in the car park for Club Asia, a night club in Dogenzaka and in the heart of the love hotel district of Shibuya.

What a great idea! Now this is something that will really encourage people to be friendly to the environment. Perhaps they should be permanently installed at all tourist sites.

And that wasn’t the only porn-themed attraction in Shibuya over the Halloween weekend.

Regular viewers of Japanese AV will be familiar with the “magic mirror truck” series that features a vehicle installed with a one-way glass wall. It travels around the city, looking out at unsuspecting citizens on the streets while all manner of sexual antics take place inside.

Porn industry giant Soft on Demand set up a magic mirror truck in the love hotel district of Shibuya, which led some people to conclude that a porno was being shot inside the vehicle. There wasn’t, as it turns out, but it was a great chance for AV fans to get a closer look at this iconic mobile porn studio.

It was essentially a promotional installation and it certainly did a great job at luring people to take a closer look on October 29th. The porn star trash cans were also set up in front.

Soft on Demand also organized its employees to help clean up Shibuya the following morning.
